Here's automotive journalist Randy Stern with the 5 things you should know about the Chrysler 200.

The Chrysler 200 is one of the best values in its class. It a family sedan that can seat five, with plenty of trunk space for the trip up north or down across the country. It is one of the few cars in its class available with a powerful V6 engine and all-wheel drive. You can get the UConnect Touch 8.4-inch screen with navigation along with various other great features available exclusively on the Chrysler 200.

What makes it a great value? Our automotive journalist friend Randy Stern had one in for review. We had to ask what he thought of the Chrysler 200. He offered five great things about this high value mid-sized car for the family.

LOTS OF CHOICES: When choosing the Chrysler 200, you get a choice of trim levels, engines and final drive lines. The 200 lineup starts with the base LX, followed by the Touring, Limited, 200 S and 200 C. There are also Platinum packages on the Limited and 200C. Most models get the 2.4 liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine, while the S and C could be had with the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6. Not a lot of mid-sized sedans offer a V6 anymore – and this one is great on the 200! All models get the nine-speed automatic transmission, while you can get all-wheel drive with the V6.

HOW GREAT IS THE V6? The 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 has 295 horsepower – which is a lot for a mid-sized sedan. However, it a smooth and simply powerful. It also has more than enough torque to get through the toughest winter when equipped with all-wheel drive. However, choosing the 184-horsepower 2.4 liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine can also instill some equal amount of fun. That, too is a great engine with plenty of power on reserve, along with turning in great fuel economy. No matter which engine you choose, you will not go wrong with the 200’s performance and efficiency.

HOW A TRANSMISSION SELECTOR CREATED MORE STORAGE SPACE? You can still select a great or direction with a shifter in most vehicles. However, the Chrysler 200 has a trick. The Rotary E-Shifter does not take up a lot of space and it is positioned closer to you than in most vehicles. Because it is a small component, there is a huge storage place under the center console where the rest of the shifter components would reside. It is sizeable – you can store a purse or a small bag of things from the local pharmacy, etc. Speaking of the center console, if you slide the cupholders away, you can connect a portable or mobile device with a Aux or USB cord and feed the cord downward to hide your device in the same storage area.

A SMOOTH OPERATOR; Mid-sized family sedans are supposed to ride smoothly. This is not to upset anyone inside of the car – children, grandparents, friends and so forth. Do not be surprised by the 200’s ride quality because it is absolutely smooth. Once you get comfortable, then the miles just trail away. That is the kind of driving experience one should expect from a Chrysler 200.

(YO)UCONNECT: When choosing anything form the 200 Touring upward, FCA’s UConnect is a great companion for those long drives – or tough commutes. In the 200, you can pair your mobile device through its Bluetooth connection, plug in your device through USB or AUX jack and let your music files rock the car. Choosing the UConnect 8.4 gets you plenty of options – including navigation, playback of certain apps from your mobile device and a larger readout for even the ParkSense and rear review camera. It is simply one of the best infotainment systems in the business and well worth the value inside of the Chrysler 200.

It is also a great value. Come see us at Apple Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Shakopee to test drive a 200 and take one home.
